We started in May 2007 – the Dolphin Therapy for our son Marius. Marius is three years old but his mental and physical development stopped at six months, there has been no diagnosis….
He was very healthy at six months, but then his development stopped. Marius still looks six months old and is soooooo sweet ! ! !
A lot of people advised us to try dolphin therapy but we were put off by the long trip to the USA or Curacao and naturally the expense…
Then we heard that dolphin therapy can also be found in Turkey!? We searched the internet – result: Marmaris 3 hours flight – approx. 6000 Euros!!!
This is exactly what we did! Promptly arrived an offer for the three of us, a complete package.
it first I was sceptical and was not ready to believe it all ..
We started slowly to tell all our friends of our intentions, and suddenly everyone knew and we quickly had enough money. Is that how it should be?
We had mixed feelings at the beginning of May as we flew to Turkey – but once we arrived we were enthusiastic!
The Hotel grounds are beautifully laid out.
There is something for everyone – and for every type of holiday. Naturally our main interest focussed on Marius and the dolphins….
The following day we had our Registration appointment and we were pleased to meet the friendly and helpful people who form the team – we felt immediately relaxed. Also the dolphins appeared interested in Marius.
The next day was the first therapy – at 11am. From there everything ran so smoothly…
Daisy (Dolphin) and Marius hit off straightaway and they made a lot of progress in the following ten days Marius’ facial expression changed into a relaxed and happy one, one that seemed to say, yes, this is it! His metabolism was stimulated and has stayed that way now that we are at home. His little hands have opened a lot more and the thumb is more free.
At the end it was even possible to spread his legs so that the dolphin could push his nose between as if to say: that’s the right way – then it will be easier… I cannot find the right words, but just to see that expression on Marius’ face I would go back to the dolphins in turkey!!!
Of course also to meet the good people that we got to know there: The friendly Barbara (PT), likable right from the start, and how lovingly she handled Marius so that I was quite moved!
Then Felih and Salih, who daily, from 5pm, introduced us to Hippo therapy which we have continued to practice here.
They have both given us three so much that it was difficult to take our leave. (The hospitality played a great part!) Lisa the lovable, who occupied herself with Marius so that Mum and Dad had some time for themselves…
Our admiration that a fully unknown child could be given so much love!!!
We have people in our own family that still cannot do that!
Michael, who saved us from writing 27 postcards with his printer and naturally Axel, without whom it would not have been possible!
We cannot express enough thanks for everything this experience has given us. We hope with all our heart that we will be able to return, we have already started to save…
I hope also that these few lines show how much we have gained through our time in Marmaris and that many parents will decide to help their children in this way.
Contact is welcome.
