乗馬療法は精神的、身体的な障害を持つ患者に適用されます。ドルフィンセラピーの医療チームが患者に適した療法を決めます。
（言語、物理療法、頭蓋仙骨療法、乗馬療法）が障害の度合いによって決められます、ほとんどの場合、毎日１回上記の治療のうちの１つが、ドルフィンセラピーはを補うために行われます。
乗馬療法は、特別に訓練を受けてた馬によって行われる物理療法です。この物理療法は、馬が患者の骨盤への運動衝動を伝達する媒体として使用されます。
患者は、歩く速度で歩く馬に座ります。
セラピーのための乗馬の第3のカテゴリーは、障害者のためのスポーツとしての乗馬です。 治療のための乗馬それが乗馬療法の基本です。
乗馬治療は治療全体に非常に重要な位置を占めることがあります。物理療法、頭蓋仙骨療法、ドルフィンセラピー、言語療法を支持し補助するものでもあります。
